COMMERCIAL PROPERTY MANAGEMENT

Focus on Property was established by Greg Robison in 2001. As a Chartered Accountant and passionate property investor he saw a need to help get people into the world of commercial property ownership. For those that didn’t have the time, the experience, or just thought it was always out of their reach, Greg was able to create unique pathways to enable them to step onto the ladder.

This process was repeated many times over the years, with the team of Alyson Tomalin, Peter Martelletti and Tony Lawrence the business grew to over $160M under management in the first ten years.

In 2012 the Bakers became involved and purchased 50% of Focus on Property, this brought more development and construction knowledge to the business skillset and we set about overhauling the internal systems with modern property management software and Accounting technology.

By 2017 we had outgrown our office in Mount Maunganui and moved over the bridge to the CBD of Tauranga, this move was significant to show we wanted to be a part of the CBD regeneration and be close to our valuable network of valuers, bankers, architects, engineers and real estate agents.

In early 2019 a phone call from Morten Freer lead to the establishment of Focus on Property Hawkes Bay, he saw an opportunity to offer commercial property management services to the area. As a satellite office to Tauranga, it has all the support and systems in place to allow Morten to build his base of Landlords and start adding value to their property.

Later in 2019 after near 20 years of enormous dedication, Greg was ready to step back from the business and sold his remaining 50% of the business to DavidBaker. Greg will remain on as a Director and retain close client relationships, his passion has not wavered at all and will he will always be helping people on to the ladder knowing the strong base of skills Focus on Property can offer.

Greg founded Focus on Property in 2001 and is actively involved in all facets of the business.

With a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting and Economics) from Victoria University, his wealth of knowledge in chartered accountancy, finance, retail, oil and logistics gives Greg has the experience and insight to know what makes a business successful.

Kevin Baker

Kevin is a Director of, and the Property Development Manager of, Focus on Property.

Originally a dairy farmer, he has built an extensive portfolio across office and commercial buildings, and commercial development projects including buildings for The Warehouse, New World, Burger King, Caltex and Pelco.

With his passion for innovation with commercial property, Kevin understands the unique aspects that allow investors to generate and preserve wealth that is both inflation proofed and intergenerational.

David Baker

David joined Focus on Property in 2012 and, after a brief stint away, re-joined in 2016. He is heavily involved with managing daily operations and implementing strategy and policy.

David has a Bachelor Valuation and Property Management from Lincoln University and an extensive background in residential property management, residential valuation, commercial property management and commercial development and construction.  

Buying his first building at 22, David loves to identify the unique factors that create value and bring properties to higher levels of performance.  

Tony Lawrence

Tony has been a key figure (and face) at Focus on Property since 2003 with his substantial knowledge of the Tauranga commercial market, landlords and tenants providing the perfect link to the company.

Involved in the Tauranga commercial market through real estate and business brokerage since the early 1990’s, Tony has undertaken several property developments and refurbishments as well as establishing a sports fishing retail business.

Taryn Collins

Taryn worked in banking before making the switch to residential property management in London on some very large housing estates during her two-year OE.

An integral part of the Focus on Property team, Taryn now holds a portfolio with a wide range of building uses and tenants with whom she takes pride in keeping in regular contact to ensure smooth management and performance growth.

Originally from Westport, Taryn recently relocated to Tauranga and is loving the lifestyle and getting to know new people.

Dan Rae

Dan is a well-connected Property Manager who comes to Focus on Property following a 10-year career in Business to Business sales, during which time he built a large network of business contacts around Tauranga.

A Mount Maunganui local of some 15 years, Dan has in the past renovated and sold residential property and is now thriving in the world of commercial property.

Dan has a proven ability to build rapport and keep tenant negotiations on track with his calculated view of the best long-term outcomes.

Dan is a keen surfer and has travelled much of the world chasing waves.

Stacey Richards

Stacey has joined us from Scentre Group in Auckland, initially a casual leasing administration manager but then expanded into Health and Saftey contractor compliance management for Scentre Design and Construct, working on one of the largest mall construction projects in NZ, Westfield Newmarket.

Holding a large portfolio of properties across Tauranga, Rotorua and Hamilton, Stacey will become a regular visitor to our tenants to ensure the buildings are performing well all tenant needs are met.

Loving the move to Tauranga, Stacey has stepped straight onto the property ladder, buying her first home and looking forward to settling into the Bay of Plenty lifestyle.

Rebecca Baldwin

Rebecca comes from a Veterinary background in Rotorua, having transitioned from a Vet Nurse to Accounts Administration over a 12 year employment. Rebecca has a keen interest in property having built up a handful of residential properties and is now excited about learning the world of commercial property.

Rebecca will be overseeing all Focus entity accounts payable and recovering OPEX where permissible under leases. Focus on Property is processing nearly 600 payments a month and ensuring accuracy is paramount, Rebecca’s eye for detail will ensure this process is efficient and competent.

In her spare time she like to run, go to the gym and spend time with family.
